Yankee Stadium and the Cloisters

On Tuesday I took the kids to Yankee Stadium before they tear it down. It was another of those scary places that we didn't want to spend a lot of time. I imagine that it would be different if there was a game going on, a few more things to do and see. We just took a couple of quick photos and hit the road. I felt a little better knowing that there were some police officers pulled over on the side of the road watching us very carefully- obviously a white woman and her four kids stuck out a little bit! I hadn't really noticed until we were on the subway for a while that we were the only Caucasian folks around. I love the diversity of people here- you just never know what language the person next to you will be speaking!! After that little adventure we met up with Joe for dinner at a place called Deluxe near his work; he goes there regularly for lunch. It was really yummy! The kids are here at the Good old Yankee Stadium. And the full shot is of the new Yankee Stadium!

Yesterday we decided rather suddenly to go to the Cloisters up at the tippy top of Manhattan. It was completely worth every effort and expense to go there, and I think the kids enjoyed it immensely. This is one place that Zac had been wanting to go before we even came here. It was just a beautiful day- and we lucked out that there wasn't any rain until we were on our way home. We would like to go back and explore more of the Ft. Tryon park. We went to the Fort overlook which supplies a gorgeous view of the Hudson and the George Washington Bridge and the area called Inwood. It is very happily situated atop a lovely, rocky hill. The Cloisters were just fantastic all around; again, the views were spectacular- the artifacts fascinating to be sure. We have dubbed this location thumbs up!!!

To add to the visual stimulation we opted to ride the bus home so we could check out the surrounding area- for Aunt Jessie we discovered the Track and Field Hall of Fame. Pretty great stuff!
