Awkward Moments
So this is the land of awkward moments, since there are an excessive amount of elevators, trains and buses, those opportunities are abundant. You know, when you go in the elevator and all the eyes go down to the ground, or everywhere around you but never on you- except when you are not watching; when, in fact, your eyes are on the ground. Same thing goes on the train or bus, when you loose that protective comfort zone bubble. There is the inevitable armpit in your face, or wall to wall people and nothing to hold onto except the ground with the balls of your feet. There is an art to ignoring the person next to you- we have had to practice those ignoring skills when there are rude people near, or like Sunday when we were showing a new family how to get home via the bus, and a man with turrets was uttering some less than pleasant things. So what do you do?? Well, we for the most part, will try to keep to ourselves, but sometimes you can't just sit/stand there without saying something. In the end we have met some of the most pleasant people in these circumstances- but everyone else surrounding us is pretending that we do not exist!!
